DJ Gino
DRUM & BASS - HOUSE

At TopJox we love a talented enthusiastic mixer with an exciting flair for the music he plays. That's where DJ Gino comes in - a pro sounding set with some excellent surprises in the mix. We're pleased to have him on board.

I was born in High Wycombe, which is close to London and Oxford sort of in the middle. I’m 20 years old and have been mixing for around 6 years now, and ready to DJ anywhere in the UK and the world.

Since the day I got my first pair of decks, up to this very day Djing and anything to do with Djing has played a big part in my life. I have much passion for the music I play, and I think my passion and enjoyment of mixing the music that I love rubs off onto my audience. To start off my DJ set, I always start with a bang to get every one on the dance floor and excited. I keep this performance up right through my set, which keeps everyone on their toes.

I first got into my Dance music when I was about 11 or 12, most of my friends at the time were very much into their Rock and Heavy metal etc. That sort of music wasn’t for me, I wanted to get on and do my own thing. Dance music, Trance, House, Drum & Bass anything like that just made me feel good about myself, it put a smile on my face.

I can always remember the first time I heard Dance music. I can’t remember where and when, but what I can remember is how good it sounded to me, and from that day on my whole world changed.

I got my first pair of decks when I was 14 just before my 15th birthday, they were only a cheap pair of Sherwood belt drive decks, but I was on them any chance I got. From the first time I went on my decks I knew that Djing was for me. The music that I mixed at the time, was, Trance and UK Garage. I remember the time when I got my first beat match; it was such a fantastic feeling and an achievement. After that my passion for Djing just grew and grew.

A few years on from this, I really started to get into my House and Drum & Bass, to me these two styles of music are the best, both as good as each other but at the same time completely different. The crowed can get just as worked up with House music as they can with Drum & Bass, both very powerful music styles.

The first club night that I went to was a rave, (Helter Skelter) a Drum & Bass night at the Sanctuary warehouse. This was an all new experience for me, until now I had only listened to the music. After this night, all I wanted to do is get into club culture even more.

When I was 17 in 2002, I entered a DJ competition. I was up against 4 other Dj’s, which were selected out of lots of mix tape demos. I was playing Drum & Bass; there were some playing UK Garage, House and another playing Drum & Bass.

This was such a good experience, as this was the first time that I had ever played in a club, and with an audience of around 300 or so, a bit of a buzz.

The over all result of the competition was that I came in 3rd place.

I went to reading college to do a Btec National Diploma in music technology. It was hear in reading when I was at college that I started to DJ at Ultimate Rush, which was a Hardcore and Hard Dance night. There were a few different venues, which this night was held.

My future goal’s are to become a top name DJ around the world, release some of my own music and possibly a mix CD.

There are two clubs Pacha Ibiza, and Fabric London which I would most love to DJ in. It’s just the good vibe that I get every time I go into any one of these clubs.
